The Killers, The RedState YouTube Video, and what makes America great.

It’s crass capitalism, my friends. Crass capitalism.

So, my RedState cobloggers Caleb and Leon over on Youtube created this great video, using music from The Killers:

…and they got an email from UMG about content rights. The standard position for UMG seems to be that they aren’t giving up their copyrights, but if they can toss up an advertisement and buttons on YouTube for buying the song/album, everything’s cool. Which is a sensible position for them to take, I think: so by all means, go buy some stuff from The Killers.

Hey, that’s the great thing about capitalism. It isn’t a zero-sum game.
