America, in 2:39.

Well, one America. Iowahawk would probably be the first to say that there are others that are as equally cool.

The Ugly Ducklings

Well, he might say “almost as cool.”

The saddest funniest thing you’ll read today.

[UPDATE] S.Logan is keeping her own list.  She’s also volunteered to work and live on-site with inner-city kids this summer, so keep that in mind as well.

Add my name to the list of bloggers laughing sourly on this nonsense from the WSJ:

“It takes about 100,000 unique visitors a month to generate an income of $75,000 a year.”

To quote a physicist friend of mine: that’s not even wrong.

Look, I hit 70K hits last month. I have some reasonable hope of hitting 50K this month, which is probably a bit closer to what I should expect at this stage in the game anyway.  I am not making five figures at this blog.  I am not making four figures at this blog.  I am carefully keeping myself from expecting to make more than three figures at this blog.  That doesn’t bother me overmuch: I’m at home doing this because somebody has to stay at home with the kids, and this is a form of income revenue that I can do and not neglect them.  But if I was trying to live on this, I couldn’t.

PS: So what if I did it once today already: it’s apropos. Click the button below: I need the laptop replaced so that I can keep doing for free what the VRWC should be paying me to do.

OK, so maybe that is a little irksome. But still.

Congress smoking cash.

It’s turning out to be quite the day for fiscal revelations. The latest is Pete Visclosky (D-IN), who is celebrating his recent drop in campaign contributions with a request to use what he has remaining for his upcoming legal… expenses:

Visclosky wants to dip into fundraising to pay legal fees

Rep. Pete Visclosky (D-Ind.) is seeking to confirm that he can reach into his $900,000 campaign war chest to pay his legal fees arising from an FBI investigation of his campaign fundraising.

In a March letter to the Federal Election Commission released Monday, the treasurer of Visclosky’s campaign is seeking an advisory opinion allowing the use of campaign funds to pay expenses relating to the FBI’s investigation of contributions from the PMA Group and its clients.

See also here (via Instapundit).  It’s turning out to be a month for this sort of thing. Visclosky, Thompson, Feinstein, Dodd, Moran, Durbin, Pelosi (with a nod to Harman), Summers, Rattner, Murtha… get the point?  Because we can keep going: that list barely touches the House, not to mention the executive branch. Too unbelievable for the Onion.

Code Pink Protester Sits Quietly, Listens to Testimony, Offers Thoughtful Response After Hearing. I mean, there’s satire, and then there’s Onion-level satire, and then there’s Full Metal Unicorn. Jim Geraghty’s proposal is Full Metal Unicorn. To a Code Pinker, “unhinged behavior” is merely a byproduct of their respiratory systems.

You can trust me on this, you know. I am apparently a smart guy. But if I’m so smart, why ain’t I rich?

Because nobody’s hitting the tip jar, that’s why. But this code should work now:

BACON vodka?

Actual BACON vodka? Are we sure that it isn’t another April Fool’s Day joke?

(looking)

Yup. Bakon Vodka. The replacement “K’s” just there so that you’ll take it seriously. Makes it seem European. Exotic. Suave.

No, I can’t imagine Mitteleuropean hipsters drinking bacon-flavored vodka, either. Still, points for trying.

‘If Che was alive today, he would personally kill every single person involved in the making of this movie. And I would not shed a tear for one of them.’

That is the summation of a review of Che by a Lefty blogger: apparently, the directors decided to make a movie about a mass-murdering, gun-toting psychopath without even at least giving the audience the courtesy of large amounts of automatic weapons fire.

See Libertarian Republican for more, plus the link: I found said Lefty’s blogger’s blog title sufficiently distasteful to omit the direct link.

I always like seeing the kids run around with their Che t-shirts, though: it’s a useful way to sort through the drones who only think that they’re being beautiful and unique snowflakes.  You want to be edgy and trangrsessive?  Try wearing this one on campus and tell us how you do.

Reviewing the March 2009 fundraising numbers.

[UPDATE] Welcome, Instapundit readers.  Recommendations, for a change: you might find this amusing, or this (sourly so).

OK, it looks like all the numbers are in. Executive summary: the DNC needs the President to survive, the NRSC is continuing to hold steady, and while the NRCC is probably thankful that the DCCC is debt-ridden, it needs to get on the stick.

Raised CoH Debt
RNC 6.7 23.9 0
DNC 7.57 9.7 6.9
NRSC 4.94 2.7 1
DSCC 5 7.2 10.8
NRCC 5.3 3.33 5
DCCC 10.2 3.34 8

Overall, the Democrats raised more in the first quarter, but have less cash on hand and considerably more debt.

Subtitled Billy Bob Thornton Radio interview. OF DOOM.

You may not be able to finish this in one sitting:

…and if you’ve ever smoked in your life, you will be tasting nicotine at some point during this.

It is glorious.

I see that the libertarians are starting to notice HR 875.

I hadn’t heard of the animal tagging angle.

Anyway, for those coming in late… yeah, they’re planning to gut the organic food industry, not least of which is because of (of all things) raw milk. Personally, I’m not particularly concerned about either Monsanto or GMO foods – but as I noted last month, it’s no skin off of my nose if somebody wants to pay through his for an organic tomato; and keeping the Democrats from regulating yet another industry out of usefulness is always a mitzvah.

PS: You can also link DeLauro to the White House via Rahm Emanuel quite easily.
You’re welcome.

Cheney Doubles Down on ‘torture’ memos.

Release them all.

(Via Andrew Malcolm) Former Vice President Dick Cheney has indicated that last week’s disclosure / distraction involving four CIA ‘torture’ memos is critically incomplete, as it fails to give results. He wants the full story released:

“One of the things that I find a little bit disturbing about this recent disclosure,” Cheney tells Hannity, “is they put out the legal memos, the memos that the CIA got from the Office of Legal Counsel, but they didn’t put out the memos that showed the success of the effort. And there are reports that show specifically what we gained as a result of this activity. They have not been declassified.”

“I formally asked that they be declassified now. I haven’t announced this up until now, I haven’t talked about it, but I know specifically of reports that I read, that I saw that lay out what we learned through the interrogation process and what the consequences were for the country.”

“And I’ve now formally asked the CIA to take steps to declassify those memos so we can lay them out there and the American people have a chance to see what we obtained and what we learned and how good the intelligence was, as well as to see this debate over the legal opinions.”

The Laptop Replacement Pledge Drive: April 20th.

As has been mentioned in the past, my laptop – the one that I use to cover events – has died, and I need a replacement. Looking at what I’ve accumulated so far, and the existing bank account, and what’s available on discount… well. I’m thinking that another $80 or so would probably handle it; I can scrounge up the rest myself from somewhere. I think.

Alas, I’m not still not getting my checks from the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy, the cheap so-and-so’s – so please note: the donate button is on the sidebar. If only to shut me up on the topic so that I’ll go back to blogging about zombie haiku.
