Lieberman doesn’t know where Pelosi’s getting this ‘misled’ thing from…

[UPDATE] Welcome, Instapundit readers. The theme song for this affair is here.

…he’s been getting briefings from them for decades, with no complaints:

Ed Morrissey heard laughter in the above: I’m not as sure, but if it is there it’s both understandable and justified. Joe Lieberman’s taken a lot of garbage from Pelosi’s ideological cohorts over the years, and even though he’s easily given better than he’s gotten the thought of a little more payback is clearly not an unwelcome one. In fact, I think that Lieberman’s enjoying this more than the neocons are, and we’re wondering whether Hoyer’s going to try to get Pelosi removed, or just neutralized.

Personally, I’m for a nice grudge war where I can root for injuries.

Watching the video (H/T: AoSHQ) of the press conference was fascinating, particularly the parts where the Speaker of the House kept harping on weapons of mass destruction as if the subject was relevant. She looked for all the world like a pigeon who had been trained to peck at a button in exchange for birdseed; only, she kept pecking the button, and no birdseed was coming out

  1. I hear laughter, but it’s more of the nervous, space filling, sort. I doubt Lieberman is enjoying this too much as he has to realize the depth of the mud Pelosi is about to drag this country through for no better reason than to save herself.

I think Senator Lieberman is too great a patriot to enjoy what’s coming even if it does include the suffering of his tormentors.

  2. While Lieberman is a politician, he’s one of the few is who remains a relatively decent human being.

Pelosi’s great blunder is calling for “truth hearings” to criminalize policy differences, a huge political sin, then getting cut up by her own manipulations.

Seems like an uncommon justice to me and probably to Lieberman.

  3. where the Speaker of the House kept harping on weapons of mass destruction as if the subject was relevant.

Wait, I thought it was the Bush administration that lied about WMD, Cheney pressured the CIA to twist and cheery pick and lie?

  4. Pelosi’s great blunder is calling for “truth hearings” to criminalize policy differences, a huge political sin, then getting cut up by her own manipulations.

Well of course she was throwing red meat to the nutroots, but they are perfectly willing to have her as the first course, if necessary, before going on to their real targets, Bush and Darth Cheney.

What they don’t realize is that whether Pelosi goes down on this or not (and why should she, she did the right thing, apart from the hypocrisy), its going to permanently derail even the formally dim prospects for “truth commissions”.

  5. In the above linked video of Pelosi’s press conference today, she answers one non-waterboarding question (beginning around minute 19:30). In her answer she said, “…we have done more for health care than anytime since the establishment of Medicare in the 50s”. (Medicare was established in 1965). This is exactly the same gaffe she made in brown-nosing Obama yesterday, here. No one has told her!

  6. The ‘laughter’ is a nervous tick I’ve seen in every Lieberman interview for 10 years.
