Rep John Fleming (R, LA-04): So, you want a Government-run health care plan, Democrats?

Fine. Sign yourselves up for it.

Freshman GOP Rep John Fleming of Louisiana recently called for the Democrat-ruled Congress to live by the rules that they want to saddle on the rest of us:

Over the past few weeks, members of Congress and the American people have come to know the details of the Administration’s proposed health care plan. Call it whatever you like, this proposal is nothing more than government-run health care. As a physician, I am amazed at the number of bureaucrats in this House who are quick to claim a government-run health care plan is the reform this country needs. In response to this, I have offered a resolution that will offer members of Congress an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is, and urge their colleagues who vote for legislation creating a government-run health care plan to lead by example and enroll themselves in the same public plan.

Under the current draft of the Democrat healthcare legislation, members of Congress are curiously exempt from the government-run health care option, keeping their existing health plans and services on Capitol Hill. If Members of Congress believe so strongly that government-run health care is the best solution for hard working American families, I think it only fitting that Americans see them lead the way. Public servants should always be accountable and responsible for what they are advocating, and I challenge the American people to demand this from their representatives.

You can tell that Rep Fleming is a freshman: he’s still able to believe that Congressional Democrats can be motivated by shame. Fortunately, they can be motivated by fear; so by all means, send a letter to your representative.

  1. You are right on. I wished that Reps and Dems would equilize more of their benefits to be in line with the rest of the people. Our government is out of control and our spending must stop. Taxing must be changed. Why do we gove so much money to foreing countries, because of coruption. Thank you for you amendment. You need to get on the news, call Rush and let more people know. Thank you for trying. Ron C, Michigan. Retire GM worker, Vietnam Vet.

  2. I just saw and heard Mr. Fleming on the news concerning his views on the Nat. Health Care Program. I would very much like to know what web site it is to see how the different senators position themselves on this issue. Mr. Fleming brought this issue up. I thank you for your time and effort in regards to this request.

  3. Dear Congressman,

What a great proposal! I am totally against President
Obama’s health care reform and think this proposal will
allow others to see what Congressmen really think of this
new plan. President Obama wanted transparency, so here it
    is.
