Defining “Republican Party” to include prominent Lefties, of course.

Wow, this is off-message.

The DNC:

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse told POLITICO.

Meet some terrorist lot thrower-inners.

Glenn Greenwald:

there are simply no meaningful “peace” accomplishment in his record — at least not yet — and there’s plenty of the opposite. That’s what makes this Prize so painfully and self-evidently ludicrous.

Peter Beinart:

I like Barack Obama as much as the next liberal, but this is a farce. He’s done nothing to deserve the prize.

Ezra Klein:

How long till the Nobel Committee just gives up the ghost and names “you!” the winner of the peace prize?

Lot of people discovered this morning that they’ve suddenly been made Republicans now, is all I’m saying.

  1. I’m not criticizing BHO for winning it. It’s the Nobel committee that’s the joke here.

BTW, the DNC did get it right that he “received” the prize. He was given the prize. He was not “awarded” the prize since you have to, you know, accomplish something before you get awarded something.

  3. Well, I did say I was tired of hearing them call everyone a racist for speaking critically of everything touched by the Obama aura. Although I’m not sure associating them with terrorists is a step toward rational discourse.

  4. And the DNC has thrown in its lot with uhhh, ummm — well, pretty much nobody — in praising the President for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

  5. I balanced my checkbook this morning, and am now more hopeful of a Nobel Prize in Economics!

  7. That is by far the funniest thing Ezra Klein has ever written, and yet he still botches the joke. I guess he just learned the phrase “give up the ghost” recently and has been waiting to use it. Many better ways to do that one.

  8. I do hope that everyone who thinks the Nobel and other tasteless fawning over The One choose to become Republicans and vote for Sarah Palin. That would be pretty sweet.
Except for Sock Puppet. Gleen Greenwald (or is it Ellison?) can stay a Democrat. Even “big tent” Republicans have their limits.

  9. “I balanced my checkbook this morning, and am now more hopeful of a Nobel Prize in Economics!”

Slartibartfast, the one thing the Taliban does religiously is balance their checkbook. You do understand the implications, don’t you?
