True Blood’s based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels?

To quote Johnny Carson, I did not know that. Anybody watching True Blood that’s also familiar with the Charlaine Harris series?  I think that I read about three or four of them before the switch to stay-at-home dad put buying them on the wrong side of the disposable income threshold; I wonder if I’ll like the video version better than the written one, for a change.

  1. Season one followed the first book relatively closely. Season two had much more divergence. I think all in all I prefer the books, but it’s pretty close.

Of course, what’s going to be interesting is the HBO series being made of the first book of George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series, “A Game of Thrones”. I don’t know if you’ve read that one at all, but it’s going to test even HBO’s limits I think.

  2. The books all the way- the show is good, but it changed a lot of the story and missed a lot of things. I didn’t really care for the added characters in the show (ones that were not in the book).

The books give far better details, and reading about their “sex” is better than watching it (can’t believe I’m saying that) only because it gives you more details on everything rather than just a visual (which of course is nice). LOL
