QOTD, Full Frontal Nerdity edition.

BEHOLD YOUR ARTICULATED PLASTIC GOD, MY METAL MINIONS!”

…Well, it’s what I would have done.  And clearly Aaron Williams would have done, too.

#rsrh DC a ‘national blight’?

Jim’s being unfair.  To national blights.

This paragraph from Jim Geraghty – larger topic: Charlie Crist’s unforced errors – resonates beyond Crist’s apparent decision to decay his orbit and burn up in the upper atmosphere:

Many Americans see Washington, D.C., as a national blight combining the high morals of late imperial Rome, the good character and widespread honesty of post–Cold War Moscow, the financial restraint of modern Athens, and the respectful modesty of Beijing — and Crist is running on the message that he can work well with everyone who’s already there.

Well, it seemed like a good idea in 2008.  That’s going to be on a lot of political gravestones, by the way; mostly Democratic ones, but Crist is apparently willing to volunteer for one last bout of ‘bipartisanship’ in that regard.

#rsrh Me and Caleb Howe on Raising Hale.

Tabitha Hale’s program: Tabitha & Caleb Howe are of course also RedState Contributors.  I say some potentially disrespectful things about Ted Kennedy, demonstrate my pro-amnesty squishy nature in the process of mocking the opponents to the Arizona law, shriek in hideous laughter at the idea of a particular lefty blogger being reasonable, and generally stammer.

I like doing these – and thanks to the new audio rig, I can do them a lot more easily now (I also did one with BigGator5).

SWAT Troops against an Army of Grandmas.

I am given to understand that the video below was the result of local police in Illinois being overruled by the Feds. This is so pathetic that it just makes me kind of sad:

You know, I remember a day when we had a President who wasn’t fundamentally afraid of the American people, and so do you.

Picture of vicious counter-revolutionary agents requiring a full riot gear-equipped police presence after the fold. (more…)

We’re going to go with Firefox this week because… you know what? Just fly the damn plane.

And so, adieu to His Girl Friday

This was missing from your life.

Look in your heart and you will know this to be true.

Unfortunately, you’ll probably decide afterward that you were kind of OK with that happy state of blissful ignorance. (more…)

A fitting memorial for Sen. Ted Kennedy.

No, really.

One that I can think that we can all get behind:

The first U.S. offshore wind farm, a giant project 5 miles/8 km off the Massachusetts coast, was approved on Wednesday after years of opposition involving everyone from local Indian tribes to the Kennedy family.

U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar gave the green light for the 130-turbine, 420-megawatt Cape Wind project in Horseshoe Shoal, Nantucket Sound, in what supporters considered a huge step forward for renewable energy in the United States.

“This project fits with the tradition of sustainable development in the area,” Salazar said in Boston.

What it didn’t do was fit with the tradition in the area of treating every whim of the Kennedy clan as a signed directive from God, but that deference died with Teddy.  So enjoy the view, ye remaining scions of Hyannis Port! – and if the image on the horizon appears at times to resemble that of the Hawaiian Good Luck Symbol, well, take it as a reminder that not even a Kennedy can stop the march of Progress forever.

Especially not the current crop of them.  And people wonder why Americans don’t trust dynastic thinking…

#rsrh Lefty activists target… Arizona Iced Tea.

Wait, what?

Here’s your ‘Why did we worry about these people’s ability to put together a movement, again?’ story for the day:

Opponents of Arizona’s new anti-immigrant law are calling for a boycott of the state’s products – including the popular Arizona Iced Tea.

The problem: Arizona Iced Tea is actually brewed in New York.

(Via JammieWearingFool & Hot Air Headlines)

Ot-nay oo-tay ight-bray of them to do a Blue-State own-goal like this; but (to quote Robert Anton Wilson) I’m sure that these people mean well. Or at least they mean something.

Moe Lane

PS: I’d just like to note for the record that this would still be full of Teh Stupid even if Arizona Iced Tea actually was made in Arizona.

#rsrh Wednesday is Reporters Whine to Politico Day.

Well, I didn’t actually go and look to see if Wednesday has become the traditional day for stories where reporters complainoff the record – about how the White House treats them like not particularly bright children who need regular beatings*, but we do keep seeing them.  I recommend reading it only for its amusement value: after all, if they lack the self-respect to stand up for themselves, why should the rest of us care?

Moe Lane

*If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say that the problem here is probably at the editorial level.  Not that it ultimately matters which parts of print/television media are being the greater cowards.

‘Happy Switch Day to you…’

“Happy Switch Day to you;”
Happy Switch Day, Snarlin’ Arlen…”

Well, I probably shouldn’t say this,” he said over lunch last month. ”But I have thought from time to time that I might have helped the country more if I’d stayed a Republican.”

“…’cuz we Do. Not. Miss. You.”

Thanks, I’m here all week! Try the veal!

FDA hassling Amish over raw milk.

Interstate commerce strikes again!

There is no such thing as a libertarian Democrat.

“They came in the dark, shining bright flashlights while my family was asleep, keeping me from milking my cows, from my family, from breakfast with my family and from our morning devotions, and alarming my children enough so that the first question they asked my wife was, ‘Is Daddy going to jail?’”

That’s how Amish farmer Dan Allgyer described an early morning visit last week from two FDA agents, two U.S. Marshals, and a Pennsylvania state trooper. Apparently, investigating a single farmer for possibly trafficking raw milk across state lines requires a show of force.

(via The DC Trawler) Pretty much by definition. You can have libertarian Republicans – and, as libertarians are no doubt eager to point out, you can certainly have hypocritical ‘libertarian’ Republicans – but the Democrats are a liberal-run political party these days, and liberals like to expand the state. That’s what liberals do. This can be disconcerting to counter-culture types that are not on the Left’s list of protected lifestyle choices. (more…)
