Or is already there a term in math for using an absolutely invalid method to get an answer that happens to be right?

What do you mean valid?

I just tried it on 2 * 4, 2.31 * 5.3361, and 38 * 1444. Works every time.

Erm, what do you mean *in*valid?

Works every time

xy=y^2/x x^2 = y~

But you knew that.

Moe, the word you’re looking for is “coincidence”.

Neil,

Try: 9 X 3 = ?

For extra credit try it with either number negative.

.

It’s merely “Math Goldberg”

Neil’s done his algebra….it works if y = x^2
