Yeah, turns out that it was Newspeak for ‘libertarians can call themselves what they like, as long as they vote for progressives.’  As soon as the 2010 election results came in that was out, and spitting on libertarians was in.

PS: A quick PSA for my libertarian readers (and, yes, I understand that you’ve probably got similar issues with conservatives): the problem with having a stereotypical hardcore liberal (particularly the ones you get online) agree with you on a policy position is that, by and large, they don’t think it acceptable if  you change your mind on it laterAnd they’re going to be a heck of a lot less willing to accept that the person disagreeing with you and him/her isn’t a scumbag.  And they expect you to treat that person as a scumbag, too.
