‘Covering the Moon in yoghurt.’

I’m getting the oddest feeling that Paul Ryan isn’t happy with Harry Reid’s proposed ‘spending cuts.’

What Ryan is referring to there is Reid’s cynical dodge that current war spending is going to be the baseline military spending for the next ten years; Reid thus gets his ‘savings’ by brazenly cutting spending that everybody knows is going to be reduced anyway and then claiming that it’s a ‘spending cut.’ Hence the yoghurt thing: after all, by Reid-logic that would work, too?

  1. Moe, I seriously have to ask: What is the proper response (policy and politics) to a President whose idea of promoting policy is “Tweet your Congressman?” Is that not an indication that Obama refuses to take any responsibility for any policy “decision” that may come his way, even ones that may benefit him?

I mean, I gotta give Speaker Boehner credit for steadfastness in the face of such irresponsibility. But if I were the Speaker, I’d be hard-pressed to resist the temptation to give Obama his tax increase and make him choke on it.

Ach well. It’s just another data point in favor of my belief that the current ways of doing politics in this country (which go back to Clinton’s 1992 victory) are about to come to a screeching halt.
