#rsrh How Senate Democrats think.

This is pretty standard behavior for them, actually.  Summary of the situation/checklist:

  1. When in power, give their clients large subsidies to produce nothing currently useful electric cars nothing currently useful.
  2. Watch bitterly as those subsidies are zeroed out by the GOP in the House, and those funds redistributed to disaster relief.
  3. Petulantly hold up disaster relief until the subsidies are restored.
  4. Blame the Republicans for the lack of disaster relief.
  5. Whine.

Admittedly, #5 is pretty much a given, under any and all circumstances.

#rsrh Davey [Weprin]* running from Bob Turner AND Barack Obama?

That takes skill.

This is the NY-09 special election, which is starting to freak Democrats out in precisely the manner that past NY special elections freaked Republicans out, and for the same reason: watching a campaign slide slooooooooowly off of the beam, despite your best efforts, has a certain ‘cosmic terror’ feel to it.  Anyway, you already knew that [Weprin]* ducked and ran from a debate last week; but what you may not have heard is that [Weprin]* is trying to disassociate himself from the President*.  Apparently, Obama’s not doing all that great in NY-09 these days.

Via Jammie Wearing Fool, who also notes that [Weprin]* is more than happy to take Organizing for America’s help.  Just as long as they stay at the back of the bus, of course.

Bob Turner for NY-09.

Moe Lane

*He’s also allegedly trying to get people into Bob Turner’s campaign… which the[Weprin]* campaign denied in one of the most perfunctory and subdued denials in recent NY political history.

#rsrh QotD, Ooh! Ooh! Let Me Answer, Eugene! Edition.

Eugene Robinson, on why it’s so horribly, horribly unfair to blame President Obama for the fact that his policies were and are the economic/fiscal equivalent of pyaemia*:

Now, maybe somebody could have come in and done all of that and also got the economy revved up and roaring but I think it is more probable that this is a different kind of recession that — and I wonder who could have done better?

The last time I checked, Mr. Robinson, I believe that we were promised that Barack Obama himself would do better.  After all, “…we didn’t elect Obama to be an expedient president. We elected him to be a great one.”

At least, so said… Eugene Robinson.

*PRO-TIP: when your defense of a Democrat/liberal causes people on MSNBC to laugh in your face, it isn’t a very good argument.  Even if it’s on Morning Joe.

“California man arrested for biting pet python twice.”

(pause)

I like headlines like that.  It makes reading the article almost superfluous.  There you go.  Man bites python.  Twice.  It’s against the law.  What more do you need?

PS: Of course alcohol was involved.  What sane man would eat raw – excuse me: live - snake sober?

#rsrh Hey, #p2! Stop me if you’ve heard this one already…

Q.  What do you call the White House abjectly caving on its plan to placate Green religious fanatics by inflicting restrictive, job-killing air pollution rules on the American economy?

A.  INSUFFICIENT.

(pause)

What?   Not punchy enough?

This is not a ‘quirk of art,’ MSNBC.

THIS IS NIGHTMARE FUEL.

OK?  OK? Something very much like this showed up in Delta Green: Targets of Opportunity*.  Which is a roleplaying supplement for the game Call of Cthulhu.  Which is a game that explores mind-destroying cosmic horror, and the best way to futilely delay its inevitable final victory over our weak human concepts of ‘logic’ and ‘sanity.’  They put that in there to freak out the people playing the game, because it takes a lot to freak out your average Call of Cthulhu player, these days.

(pause)

No, I don’t know why this freaked me out, either.  Maybe because I wasn’t expecting it.

#rsrh Fun exercise in double-think for our #p2 colleagues!

Come up with a reason for NASCAR racers to turn down a visit to the White House for (supposed) ideological reasons that doesn’t also condemn pop stars who did the same sort of thing during the last administration. Fair warning: Because it’s different when we do it, dammit, while honest enough, will not be judged to be a fair answer.

What’s that?  It’s the only answer?  Well, yeah, I suppose that would be a problem there, then.

Via @BillSTL.

Moe Lane

PS: Please, netrooters, by all means: scream at the NASCAR racers and call them bad names.  Loudly.  At the top of your lungs.  Until you black out from lack of oxygen.

Much obliged.

Ah, my unwelcome gallstone.

Your days of vexing my digestion approach their end.  You have a week to contemplate your miserable existence: my only regret is that I have to lose my gallbladder in the process.  It was led astray, I know – and forgive.

I have no idea how many days I’m going to be flying from the painkillers, mind you.  Probably a couple, which is why I’m in the process of loading up the Kindle/iPad with stuff to read, as time and money allows…

Yup, no shame. Tell you what, though: feel free to tell me what book I should be spending your donation on.

#rsrh QotD, Raul Grijalva Thinks You’re Stupid Edition.

The honorable representative from Arizona, on civility levels these days:

“Not even in our worst days as Democrats did we demean and attempt to cripple the office of president.”

…sayeth the man who cosponsored articles of impeachment against then-Vice President Dick Cheney.  In early 2008, no less, which means that Grijalva had no better motive here than to try to take a cheap shot against the President.  By proxy.  When it was already clear that when it came to this particular subject Bush was right, and Grijalva was wrong.  And if you don’t believe me, go ask President Obama, who has c0ntinued the war policies* that Grijalva wanted to impeach Cheney over.  You won’t get a straight answer from Obama, mind – but then, when did we ever?

We will now pause while various antiwar faction members try to claim that attempting to impeach the Vice President should not be seen as an attempt to “demean and attempt to cripple the office of president.”  I’d say forgive them – after all, at this point this is all that they have – but I find that I have very little forgiveness in my heart for people who’d happily throw any number of non-Westerners onto the pyre, just to win an election…

Fast & Furious coverup in Arizona.

(H/T: Hot Air) I believe that the quasi-pop reference here is “BOOM goes the dynamite:”

Congressional investigators tell CBS News there’s evidence the U.S. Attorney’s office in Arizona sought to cover up a link between their controversial gunwalking operation known as “Fast and Furious” and the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

Executive background summary, for those who don’t remember/aren’t following: Operation Fast & Furious was an incredibly ill-advised program where the federal government directed various law-enforcement agencies to permit guns to be illegally resold to Mexican narco-terrorist gangs.  The above quote is referencing a situation where some of those guns were traced to the Terry murder scene: the email trail indicates that the ATF was aware of the link between the two cases from the start.  This is important because the ATF later attempted to stonewall Congressional investigators out the link, in the person of US Attorney (District of Arizona) Dennis Burke. “American Woman.”

American Woman, The Guess Who

You know, you see 1970, and then you contemplate how fashions were going even then, and then you’re left with an inescapable conclusion: that wasn’t fashion.  That was a contagious disease.
