Tim Tebow keeps making the right kinds of enemies.

You know, I don’t even watch football and I’ve gotten into the habit of checking out what the final score was for the Broncos game.  Because every time Tim Tebow gets the win and thanks Jesus and the team for it, somebody goes entertainingly nuts about the former.

Latest example:

(Via The Right Scoop and The Radio Equalizer)  I figure that eventually Tim Tebow will lose another game, although thanks to him the Broncos are in a heck of a better position for a playoff slot, which is I believe is the crazy hope that they had when they made him starting QB.  And when that day comes, I will be largely grateful that I am not, say, Bill Press in the video above: largely because the video above causes me to suspect that Press may be incapable of sustaining a useful erection sans a constant obsession of just how badly he hates unabashed Christians.

#rsrh Just… one… more.

The last debate before the Iowa caucus is tonight.  9PM EST, hosted by Fox News.  We just need to hold out for a little bit longer.  Just a little bit longer, and it’ll be done until after the Iowa results.

Anyway: expect tonight to be as knockdown and drag-out a fight between Romney and Gingrich as either dares to do; Huntsman and Perry will try to keep themselves from immolating themselves on national TV; and the other three will be having some bittersweet moments of pre-nostalga.  Yes, yes, I know that Ron Paul is currently polling well in Iowa; it’s not going to help.  Sorry.

Still: almost there.

#rsrh QotD, In Which I Am Laconic Again edition.

Diana Furchtgott-Roth of RealClearMarkets estimates that two provisions of the Republican version of the jobs bill – fast-tracking the Keystone ethical oil pipeline, and modifying eligibility on unemployment benefits could shave a full point off of the unemployment rate in 2012. The major obstacle? President Obama himself, who opposes both.  Diana thinks that he shouldn’t.  In fact, she thinks that Obama’s been given a gift by House Republicans:

Luck has once again struck President Barack Obama-if he has the wit to recognize it and use it.

If.

#rsrh Staff on GOP re-election campaigns, please read.

I’m not going to mince words: keep your C0ngressmen and Senators from voting for the Stopping Online Privacy Act.  If they do vote for it, do not promise them access to online grassroots support; if this thing passes, I for one will be checking voting records as part of the process of deciding whether or not to help out a particular Republican legislator*.  I won’t be the only one, either.

And – forgive me for saying this – I don’t really care what the motivation was for a ‘yes’ vote.  I’m already pushing the limits of my tolerance by giving ostensible Republicans/conservatives a pass if the bill itself doesn’t.

*Staff on Democratic re-election campaigns, please note: for your people I’ll be doing that whether SOPA passes or not.  There’s a heck of a lot of online cross-party and cross-ideology opposition to this bill; it’s going to be a digital albatross around the neck of anybody who votes for it, and a wise adviser will advise his or her boss to avoid the initial shooting.

#rsrh #ows Mother risks daughter out of sheer narcissism.

Behold the glory of our educational system: it gives us Occupiers (and other fools) who do not understand the concept of ‘inertia,’ and are about as equally unlikely to know how to spell it.  I cannot believe that I actually have to type this out: if you deliberately put your four year old child on railroad tracks in order to block a moving train, then you have failed as a parent.

You can have “faith in humanity” all you want, but THE LAWS OF PHYSICS do not care.  It is difficult to stop a multi-ton railed vehicle, once it gets started.  It does not matter how fast the vehicle is going; it will still crush you if you do not get out of its way*.  All the good intentions in the world will not help you.

If you recognize this woman, I beg you: keep her away from your children.

So… Jade Empire.

Did it suck?  I’m running out of The Witcher and I can’t seem to get my head around Deus Ex: Human Revolution.  I keep ending up being stuck crouched behind a box on my first mission, out of Goddamned ammo, and being shot at by people who HAVE ALL THE GODDAMNED AMMO IN THE GODDAMNED WORLD…

Sorry.  I have issues with games where I keep dying before I can even level up once.

Analyzing the new Pennsylvania district map.

The new redrawn Pennsylvania Congressional map is out, and it’s… well.  If you ever wondered whether elections have consequences, then wonder no more.

Executive summary: two of the least powerful PA Democratic Congressmen have been thrown into Thunderdome and told to fight each other; the other five PA Democrats have been, ah, reassured that their seats are safe; and the nine PA Republicans have had their seats generally tweaked and shored up to minimize any possibility of losing their seats any time soon.

And the best adjective to describe PA Democrats’ reaction to this one is probably ‘impotent.’ (more…)

I don’t think that this was the ABA’s intent.

I think that the American Booksellers’ Association’s intent was to have me go “Oh, how horrible is it that Amazon.com has an app that will allow people to comparison-shop on the fly.” Instead, it had me go “Wow. Amazon.com has an app that will allow me to comparison shop on the fly.  Let me download that RIGHT NOW.”  Admittedly, it’d be slightly more useful if my iPod Touch had a network card in it, but lots of places have free Wi-Fi these days.

…Yes, I’m going to spend extra time in Purgatory for that one.

Speaker Boehner extends State of the Union invitation to President.

That’s not all he’s extending.

Speaker of the House John Boehner has formally offered an invitation to the President to give his annual State of the Union address.

As we work together to end this legislative year by advancing initiatives to help Americans struggling a difficult economy, we must also look ahead for new opportunities to put solutions before politics.  In the coming year,. Republicans will continue our efforts to create an environment for economic growth and job creation, and we welcome an opportunity to hear your new ideas for working with the Congress.  There fore, I am privileged to invite you to deliver an address on the State of the Union on January 25, 2012, before a Joint Session of Congress.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to your response.

You know, I just bet that Speaker Boehner does.  Not that Barack Obama dares respond as he would like to; which is to say, with a blistering oath or two. (more…)

#rsrh Instapundit almost buries the lede.

It really should be “Some idiots still subsidize Media Matters.”  Seriously, that group is probably only still alive because Breitbart’s organization feels charitable enough to throw them the occasional link.  Because we’re just big softies, that way.

Besides, thanks to Barack Obama and his Democratic Party of DOOM the economy sucks too much to let even a bunch of whining partisans with poor life skills get tossed out onto the street.  No, think about it: Media Matters gets circular-filed, their staff will inevitably up on public assistance.  Which means that then we would end up paying out the money that keeps them from starving to death…

Indiana Jones and the Stop-motion Hasbro Footage of Awesome.

So I got sent this via email; and it is worth the six minutes of lifespan that you will spend to watch it.

It is my fervent hope that we go through a retro period where stop-motion is cool again, thus giving some of these people a shot to, you know, get paid for stuff like this.
