#rsrh Our poor President’s awful Christmas quandary.

What IS this garbage?

President Obama faces a most difficult decision with the payroll tax extension up in the air, and it isn’t whether to compromise with Republicans.

The toughest call for the president this holiday season could be whether to join his family for Christmas in Hawaii or stay in lonely Washington.

Let me make it simple: President Obama’s job description does not include “$4 million holiday trips to Hawaii.“  Considering he bungled this entire situation in the first place by deciding to play games on the Keystone ethical oil pipeline, Obama should do what the rest of us have to do when our actions screw up our vacation plans: grow up and buckle down.  Besides, when you’re President you work the job, not the clock.  Alternatively, Obama can take full advantage of the fact that nobody can tell the President of the United States what to do and just freaking go on yet another vacation without all this fake agony over the situation.  That’s more or less endurable, too.  Just… stop whining about it, already.

Hey, if President Obama doesn’t like it he can always quit.  Judging from past performance, it’s not like the Republic is going to collapse if Obama leaves his current job.

PS: I think that I know which movie William Jacobson is thinking of.  Had sequels, right?

And in my hands!

So I’ll stop rambling on about it and everything.

Yeah, I saw the Slate Nerf Gun-grabber article.

It’s making the rounds, after all (Ace is probably being the most viciously and entertainingly mocking about it).  Needless to say, you can have my Nerf N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 Dart Blaster when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.  Or when I’m done playing with it and you want a turn firing an Oh my God it’s a fully automatic Nerf machine gun I so designed well drew one of these when I was a kid this is the best thing ever I always knew that you could put batteries in or something.  Because I understand the appeal.

Obviously.

Happy Hanukkah!

We will now pause for the traditional Adam Sandler holiday song.

No, really, I quite like this one.

The American Family Association has NOT endorsed Newt Gingrich[.]

[You'll notice some updates.  They have since corrected the story.]

I mean, I know that’s what the Hill [was] reporting in its title (“Gingrich wins endorsements from American Family Association, Iowa Speaker“), but that’s not really supported by the original article:

Newt Gingrich rolled out a pair of high-profile endorsements Tuesday, hoping to regain momentum in Iowa as recent polls have shown the one-time front-runner slipping back into the middle of the Republican pack.

Don Wildmon, the founder and chairman of the American Family Association, announced his support for Gingrich on Tuesday. The group, which promotes conservative Christian values and has a nationwide radio network of more than 180 stations, is a coup for Gingrich…

(Bolding mine: screenshot here) Rev. Wildmon is of course the founder of the AFA, but he’s not actually the chairman anymore.  He retired last year for health reasons and is now the chairman emeritus.  His son Tim Wildmon has been in charge of the organization since March of 2010There is no indication of an endorsement by the AFA itself; I have a call out to their press people.  The Hill’s, too. [The Hill has since corrected the story.]

Please note that this is not a criticism of the Gingrich campaign, which did not claim the endorsement of the AFA as a whole.  And certainly getting the endorsement of the Chairman Emeritus of the AFA will be helpful to Gingrich.  But there [was] some confusion over the scope of the endorsement, here.

#rsrh Presumably, the Lefty divestment from Twitter will now begin.

Real quick background.  Apparently a Saudi prince that you’ve likely never heard of owns a portion of Fox News – as if anybody reading this actually freaking cares – and this had Media Matters for America… all in a tizzy?  Yeah, I didn’t notice, either.  Anyway, the Usual Suspects on the Left are all freaking out about this – largely in arenas where their particular shrieking can’t be heard over the din – with the general theme of ‘people shouldn’t support anything* owned by Saudi princes.’ So since that same prince has now bought a piece of Twitter, you can expect all those people to quit that service themselves, right?

Rhetorical question, of course.

PS: Of course this is the first that you’ve heard of the whole situation.  Media Matters for America, remember?  The only reason that they’re not mocked more is because we know that if they collapse as a group MMFA will likely be replaced by a group that’s more competent.

*No, this doesn’t mean that the Left now supports the Keystone ethical oil pipeline.  Don’t be silly.

“Chap-Hop History.” …Well, then.

Normally I’d make some over-the-top false choice comparison here, but this is actually both cool and bizarre; sufficiently so that I’m not gonna.  Ladies and gentlemen, the offerings of Mr.B the Gentleman Rhymer:

#rsrh A fair approximation of Hell.

Trying to sample the nightlife scene in Pyongyang.  Executive summary: it doesn’t exist and you’re not allowed to leave the hotels at night anyway.  Or during the day, sans keeper.  Or ever, really.  This entire revelation is beggared by the fact that North Korea apparently has a tourism industry.  Why in God’s name would anybody go there, if they didn’t have to?  Sheer sadism?

…Don’t answer that: I suspect that the answer would be even more depressing.
