A random observation about politics.

Virtually no sitting politician will ever, ever, ever voluntarily speak of his or her re-election as anything else besides a foregone conclusion that will happen as inevitably as the sunrise.  This is because publicly showing doubt or uncertainty is an excellent way to lose the election in question.

So it’s not news when, say, the President acts as if course he’s going to have a second term.  Obama would be doing that if he was twenty points down and slowly being consumed by the Sarlacc.  And so would anybody else in his place.

  1. The political scheme in the past few years really has taken a toll in this world. Until the rhetoric, inability to comprimise and partisanship subside, none of us will be happy.
