Barack Obama denounces himself over gas price attack ads.

Obama apparently doesn’t believe anything that *he* says, either.

Statement (Via Jim Geraghty’s Morning Jolt):

“Every time prices start to go up – especially in an election year – politicians dust off their three-point plans for $2 gasoline. They head down to the pump, make sure a few cameras are following them, and start acting like they can wave a magic wand and you’ll have cheap gas forever. Sound familiar?” Obama said.

Oddly enough, Mr. President… it does.

For those without video access, it’s a video where then-candidate Barack Obama headed down to the pump – after making sure that a few cameras was following him – and started acting like he’d just have wave a magic regulatory club with a nail in it at the oil companies/Wall Street and [then] we’d have cheap gas forever.

Sound familiar?

PS: Welcome to 2012, Mr. President.  This will be an election cycle where everything that you have ever publicly said, muttered, shouted, whined, blathered, pontificated, blustered, stated, bloviated, insinuated, accused, suggested, shrieked, howled, or even whispered as President has been not just recorded.  Oh, no.  It’s been recorded and saved on millions of individual computers, just waiting for the moment where any of those moments might be relevant.  And, thanks to the rise of various video sharing sites, the thirty second attack ads that used to be the exclusive province of professional political advocacy companies can now be produced by any guy with a half-decent computer and a YouTube account.

Have a nice day!

  1. The Zero Hedge prediction of a Greek default in March, came true they predicted $4.00 gas in April, it’s at $3.93 in Mich. now. Anybody want to bet it won’t hit $5.00 in July? The economy will break, again. There is no prediction for gas hitting $6.00 a gallon.
