Ed Morrissey allows himself to see what cannot be unseen…

1970s fashion.

No, I’m not going to show you any of that, because, well, I don’t want any of those pictures on my website.  But I will link to James Lilek’s immortal Interior Desecrations: Hideous Homes from the Horrible ’70s, because if you think that the clothes back then were bad…

  1. One of my favorites. Was 70’s fashion the result of designers smoking weed, or the result of desiners who didn’t smoke trying to design for people who did?

  2. We who came of age in the first half of the ’90s have our share of fashion tragedies. Flannel and grunge, for example. And let’s not go back to 1993-94, when too many folks were dressed as though they were taking a motorcycle vacation to Sturgis, SD.

  3. BG5: The 80’s had its sins, but nothing compares to the 70’s esthetic train wreck.

  4. @Aruges: Don’t get me wrong, I agree that the 70s were an esthetic train wreck. I just think the 80’s were worse, an esthetic train wreck that happen to be carrying nuclear waste.

  5. Lileks’ post on The Gobbler, (70’s resort extraordinaire) is a freakin’ laugh riot. Must read.
