#rsrh Charlotte convention Democrats deny God thrice. :pause: This is a PROFESSIONAL insult to me.

“I swear to you, I do not know this man!”

Dammit, I do not need this kind of gimme.  I am perfectly capable of hammering the Democrats without… the active assistance of the Democratic party itself.

As Hot Air notes: this was so bad that the Media was sitting there, blinking. Both at the vote – which, by the way, did not sound like a two-thirds majority for the amendment putting the God and Jerusalem language back into the platform – and at the booing that ensued when LA Mayor Villaraigosa just gave up, banged the gavel, and pretended that the ayes had it.

Seriously, doesn’t anybody there know how to play this game?

  1. I don’t know Moe – there is just no substitute for your opponent being incompetent and stupid…

  2. Are any of the Democrat leaders getting just a little nervous about what they’ve let loose this past twelve years?

    (Strickland sure did.)

  3. Another thing: the C-Span camera work seemed to suggest the “Jerusalem as capital” language is what sparked the most vehement protest.

  4. Why does it matter, UtahMan? Shouldn’t a country get to decide it’s own capitol?

How would you like it if California declared, say, St. George the capitol of Utah, eh?

Silly on stilts is silly on stilts, regardless of whether the stilts are the public denunciation of god, or pocking with the sovereign rights of a *completely different nation*.

Admittedly, blowback from the former is likely to hit Team Obama harder… I wonder if the Akin folks will figure out how to tie this to Air Claire…

  5. Not certain, acat: McCaskill is *technically* Catholic (like Pelosi is Catholic) so I expect to see some “I love God and Country” ads from her sometime.

  6. They do realize this is going to be shown again and again before November, actually I gather the MSM is doing that now.

  7. @Xasteius – yes, but is Air Claire smart enough to go there in a *believable* way? I mean .. she *is* the most loathed politician in the State, so this should have been a cakewalk.

  8. The democrats, and Barack Obama in particular, seem determined to shoot themselves in the foot (feet, since ‘themselves’ is plural?). About three feet higher and more centerline, actually……

  9. Jerusalem may or may not be the capitol of Israel. President Obama hasn’t decided his position yet.

  10. I watched the vote, and couldn’t believe they said it passed, when it was obvious that after 3 tries they had a major problem. There is a picture out now showing that the teleprompter had already been programmed for the outcome BEFORE the vote even took place, saying it had passed.

Democrats continue to do what they do best – lie. The Left turn their party has taken is completed, and no going back now. The question we’ll have to answer is one of numbers…are there more of us than them?

  11. Actually, the thing that mystifies me is that if deciding important thing with what is essentially an applause meter doesn’t work, there seems to be no plan B. Isn’t there a procedure in place?

  12. The Plan B is a roll call vote. Which I think was avoided because that could be embarrassing. So, the chair went with option C: Ignoring the will of the people. Sort of like last time ’round when they just awarded some Hillary delegates to Obama, just cause.

  13. I thought it was funny that the lady standing off to the side told Vilaregosa [sic] to let them do what they wanted. But, he ignored her and the vote and did what he was supposed to.

  14. Sorry, acat, but I commented just before leaving my computer for the night. I think you misunderstood me; Israel should have the right to designate its own capital, and designates Jerusalem as such. But American policy has been to ignore that, and so our embassy is in Tel Aviv.

The point I was trying to make is that the delegates seemed more upset over the “Jerusalem is the capital” language. I apologize if I wasn’t clear.

The interesting thing is that in 2000, or even 2008, the Jerusalem plank was relatively non-controversial.
