#rsrh Politico: worried about DOOM in CT-SEN?

Politico ain’t too happy about it – yeah, I’m broken up about that, too – but Linda McMahon seems to be making it a race over in CT-SEN.  I particularly enjoyed this bit from Joe Lieberman:

Even retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, said Murphy has a ways to go to catch up with McMahon. Lieberman, who is staying neutral in the race, cited McMahon’s effective campaigning and the state’s independent streak. More than two in five voters is registered as unaffiliated.

“It looks like a closer race than most people would have guessed … She’s smart, capable. And what can I say, but she’s obviously getting her message across better this time. Also, to be fair, Dick Blumenthal was a very formidable candidate,” Lieberman told POLITICO.

Damn, but that was cold.  Say what you like about Joe, but the man knows which end of the knife is which.  And where the best place on the back is to insert one.

PS: It seems that Ms. McMahon learned something from her last Senate campaign.  I find this… gratifying.

PPS: Linda McMahon for Senate.

  1. Yes, I have been saying this all along. Linda McMahon didn’t come from food stamps to near billionaire by being stupid. She hired smart people to honestly assess what went wrong – what could be changed and what couldn’t and then set about 100 million to changing it. Oh and yeah, Lieberman knows where the knife goes, knows folks like Murphy and the Politico tried to run him off, and that revenge is a dish best served cold.

  2. I’m not a big wrestling fan, If she wins, I’d like to see more Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches in the US Senate.

  3. Heh. If Lieberman ran for re-election, I wonder if he’d run as a D or keep the I. It’s almost too bad he’s retiring. Almost.

  4. Here in CT Linda has been steadily increasing her vote under the radar. She let Chris Murphy coast as the anointed one, then hit him with his attendance record in congress (abysmal. Then the local Dem paper found out he had dodgy tax and mortgage payment history.

The Dems had only played that McMahon ran WWE forgetting that lots of Dem voters like Pro Wrestling or don’t see anything wrong with it. Living the progressive echo chamber can let you forget that.

  5. Ideology vs. Politics, DirtyJobsGuy. Same reason this cat predicts Brown stays in the Kennedy seat.
