…I like Penny Arcade’s CheckPoint.

After that incredibly, tooth-jarringly aggrivating last post, I figure that I should mention that.  CheckPoint delivers quick video bites of commentary of computer gaming news; it’s fun-snarky without being nasty about it.  I reliably laugh, even though I know only about 1/3rd of the companies that they’re mentioning in any given episode.  Check them out.

  1. Checkpoint is done by the Canadian gaming comedy troupe “Loading, Ready, Run”. They make material for PA and The Escapist, but you can access their stuff from their own site loadingreadyrun.com.

  2. Yahtzee can be hilarious, but I’m always waiting for the Anti-American sucker punch. Granted, at this point it’s an expected thing with him so it’s to be discounted, but it’s tiresome. I had to give him up for a long time when he basically repeated Louis C.K.’s Sarah Palin “joke”. Never saw him the same way again.

However, I will say that both times he roasted games I’ve worked on, I laughed uproariously.

  3. I’ve gotten to the point where I just pay attention to an artists work and ignore the $h!t that comes out of them off screen. otherwise i couldn’t enjoy anything. the occasional on-camera swipe at the US is just what i expect from Europeans.
