Yup, taking a couple of days off. More or less.

The Obama campaign, I’m sure, will continue to implode without me there to keep sucking the oxygen out of the room on them.  Case in point:

Apparently when the Obama administration decided to treat the Lily Ledbetter Act as being the greatest thing in the universe ever for equal pay for women they forgot to tell that to Joe Biden.  It’s not every day that a man’s second in command so thoroughly stamps into the ground that man’s agenda…

Well, unless you’re Barack Obama.

  1. Yep. Good ole Joe. He’s so…special, we’re not allowed to question anything he says, but he always says what he means.

Except when he says what he’s thinking.

  2. I am glad that Moe is taking some time off. I have to admit to be a bit weary myself. A job that was once 10% travel leaped into 50% travel, and I am pre-occupied with the election while trying to raise 2 little kids. I was wondering today—where is my money going, I don’t seem to be accumulating much despite pay increases and limited personal spending, than it dawned on me. . .it’s the donations, stupid (political). I can’t feel too guilty about that can I? There is so much uncertainty and fear out there that I question everything.

RNC called me right before I went to vote and squeezed out a c-note. today I found out that they are putting staff in PA.

Yes. I hope I am doing the right things. Next week, hope to have some more time to volunteer.

Lily Ledbetter Act doesn’t mean anything to me as a woman. I know I make less than my male counterparts, but until recently I have also enjoyed a pretty relaxed schedule. Sometimes we only look at one side of things. The upside of being paid less, is that people expect less. THat may make me sound lazy, but I have a lot on my plate.

  3. Earlgrey, remember … It’s about balance. Take a holiday after the election.

One point I will make; I’ve turned down several promotions that would have meant more money, but less freedom. To me, work life balances at a different point … specifically, when I make less per hour than a UPS package handler, it’s time to re-think.

All the best to you and Moe!

p.s. Perhaps Bush would, if Obama were to ask nicely, tell where the keys to The Undisclosed Location are…

  4. Thanks Acat. I think I’ll take your advice on that holiday post 11/6. Hoping to be able to celebrate.

  5. Catseye – I’m making less now than I was when Obama was elected. That’s in gross, not net .. I’m even worse off in net because bloody everything’s gotten more expensive.
    .
This isn’t to diminish your situation, Catseye .. but there’s more than one kind of pain here. I’m supposed to be saving for *retirement* now… and I can barely hang onto my house.

  6. I wonder how many women currently working in the Obama administration will sue after they are voted out in November. The pay disparity there is 18% I believe. Perhaps it’ll be a bigger deal then, but as usual the taxpayers will have to pick up the tab.

  7. Well, if you’re looking for something to do with your time off…
I highly recommend Dishonored. It’s a great game. Immersive, tons of options, wicked moral forks, and lots of fun. (Besides, vicariously assassinating corrupt politicians DOES have its charms).
