Definitely hard to believe. I am not sure Barone has a great track record on making predictions either.

I don’t think much of using a simple “X years = 1 period” approach to history, it seems an unnecessarily oversimplification, but it does make his point.

I would substitute the .. understanding of the world, say .. from the point of each generation.
    .
Looking more recently, the Lost Generation won the war against the Kaiser, only to fall to decadence and the Great Depression ..
    .
The Greatest Generation battled back from the Depression and crushed Germany again in WWII, only to fall into the Cold War doldrums…
    .
The Silent Generation learned to be seen and not heard, and were ever overshadowed by their older Greatest brothers and drowned out by …
    .
The Boomers, who never learned self-restraint, a clear anti-Silent attitude, and who sought to copy the success of the Greatests without doing the work… who saw the end of the cold war but don’t recognize that we have become too much like our one-time enemy…
    .
I do agree with the subtext, though … each generation, each set period does seem to come up with its’ challenge .. and the challenge for Generation Boned and the Millenial Whiners is going to be dismantling the “safety cage*” without blowing up the country, or the world.
    .
I wish us all luck .. we’re gonna need it!

    * What started as a net has now nearly fully enclosed us, we are strangled by what purports to be in the interest of our safety…
