Japanese PM wishes to change Japanese constitution.

Three guesses, and the first two don’t count.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told lawmakers Thursday he intends to change the post-WWII constitution that imposed pacifism on Japan, in a move likely to stir suspicion in China and beyond.

…Did you guess where Abe was going with that? – Because it’s not exactly surprising.  And, given our current decision to do a slow recede from foreign affairs, it’s probably advisable.

  1. Hey, I have no issue with Japan wanting to protect themselves and expand their military. I don’t think I can deny them some basic sovereign rights.

    1. I’ll go further .. I applaud this idea.

Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea – along with some of the one-time “Asian Tigers” – can and should be working together to engage and correct China.. sort of the way France envisions the E.U. “engaging and counterbalancing” the U.S.

The difference is, the Japanese will do a better job of it than the French …

      1. I forget where I read it, so I can’t properly credit it, but I thought this wise advice:

“Never start a fight with an old man– if he’s too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.”
