Democrats: STOP SHOWING US THAT DEBT CLOCK!

Poor Democratic party members. How they hate the imposition of messy objective reality on their warm, fuzzy fantasy narrative:

Some members of Congress apparently don’t like to be reminded about how much debt the country continues to rack up.

During a House Financial Services Committee hearing Tuesday on the budget, two Democrats complained after House Financial Services Committee chairman Jeb Hensarling instructed that two monitors in the hearing room display a real-time running national debt clock.

I imagine that they did: it’s like inviting a vampire over and then sitting him between two spraying fountains of holy water. I wonder who complai…

California Rep. Maxine Waters and Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison both issued complaints about the displays, according to video of the hearing.

…I might have known.

  1. This reminds me of something I meant to comment on a few weeks ago. Krugman went on Morning Joe and out and out said the debt didn’t matter. Of course, Scarborough attacked him and wrote a Politico column, Mika threw her nose in the air, Ratner sent a text. I actually respected Kruggie in the deal. Ratner funnelled debt dollars to “bail out” GM. Mika never met an Obama spending program she couldn’t fall in love with and Scarborough practically endorsed Obama. At least, Kruggie was honest; Scarborough, Mika, and Ratner only support programs and politicians that explode the debt and then give lip service to how important debt reduction is.

    1. You lost me, tnfriend …

If debt matters, then .. they’re all wrong.
      .
If debt doesn’t matter .. then why does running up more debt matter?

      I suspect either I haven’t had enough coffee, or there’s a typo somewhere…

      1. I am saying at least Krugman will come out and say the debt doesn’t matter – the other hypocrits just say the debt matters then support policies and politicians that run it up. They are most certainly all wrong, at least in this one instance Krugman isn’t a hypocritical idiot; he’s just an idiot.

        1. Thing is, these birds of a feather are all flying in the same general direction.
          .
Kruggie erodes the idea that debt matters .. and if you think debt *doesn’t* matter, just stop paying your bills for a month or so…
          .
Meanwhile, the talking heads push bigger government nanny-state to those who have already decided that debt doesn’t matter.
          .
I see them more as a points on the pathway to totalitarianism than as somehow not related .. there’s a reason why Kruggie is on their show (and Rand Paul isn’t) after all.

          1. At least when someone is intellectually honest you can have a genuine and fair debate on the merit of ideas.

          2. Good point – I was just commenting on Scarborough, Breszhinsky and Ratner’s hypocrisy to attack Krugman for not pretending that he supports debt reduction when they don’t either. True on the reason Rand Paul would never get an airing on their show.
