…but I have to say: the aforementioned Congressional staffers need a better class of defenders.
Two senior Democrats complained at a House Appropriations Committee hearing Tuesday that the combination of cuts over the past two years has robbed them of nearly 11 percent of their personal budgets, which average $1.3 million.
Now House officials are looking at an additional 8.2 percent cut, or about $100,000. Total cut over three years: nearly 20 percent.
The aforementioned senior Democrats were, you see, Jim Moran and Debbie Wasserman Schultz . Now there’s a match made in Hell; I imagine that they look longingly at each other’s jugular veins -and let me tell you; I can bear up quite well under their complaining about how their poor, poor Congressional staff is no longer really able to eat at all those overpriced and mediocre restaurants that form the backbone of Dizzy City, and I use the word with a wince, ‘cuisine.’ Personally, if it was up to me I’d cut the Congressional personnel staff budget by another 20% (just to reinforce the don’t-be-an-idiot lesson) and tell Debbie Wasserman Schultz to make up the difference by selling her kidney on the black market*. Because a 20% pay cut sounds… oddly familiar, right now.
Shorter Moe Lane: Those guys? [Expletive deleted] those guys.

*I don’t know where Jim Moran has been, but my suspicions are quite enough to make me feel that it’s better safe than sorry.
