Mayors Against Illegal Guns supporters mourn death of… Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Wait. What?

The event had people supporting the Mayors Against Illegal Guns movement, founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, reading the names of those “killed with guns” since the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary outside their “No More Names” bus.

[snip]

Some of the loudest shouts came when a reader spoke the name of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects who was killed by police during a gunfight.

There are people who are UPSET that Tamerlan Tsarnaev got shot? And not because we can’t read information off of a corpse’s brain*? God, but Mike Bloomberg’s got some seriously freaky supporters.

*I consider that to be a legitimate reason for wishing that a murderous terrorist survives his brush with military or law enforcement officials. On general principles, however, said terrorist’s life isn’t worth risking the death of a public servant. Or a civilian.  Or a squirrel.  I might stretch a point about the trees, but only if they’re nearing the end of their lifespan anyway. I know, I know: that’s horribly anthropocentric of me.

  1. Well, now. That puts the police assault and arrest of a guy who was doing NOTHING when they tazed him in a different light.

  2. Given the squirrels in my neighborhood, I’d rather see a squirrel die than a tree.

  3. Reminds me of the time Billy Ayers included Sirhan Sirhan, the murderer of Robert F. Kennedy, in the list of people he was dedicating a book to.
