Alison Lundergan Grimes pledges to ritually sacrifice herself in Kentucky.

That poor woman.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell got a challenger for his U.S. Senate seat on Monday and her name is Alison Lundergan Grimes.

“I have met with my supporters. We have had a great conversation and determined and decided that we can next make the best move, the best difference in the commonwealth of Kentucky by running for the U.S. Senate,”  Grimes said at a news conference in FrankfortKy.

Although, admittedly, this is kind of funny:

“Make no mistake members of the media this due diligence was not reluctance, it was not hesitancy…”

It was totally reluctance and hesitancy: Grimes gave up an entire fundraising quarter in order to accommodate her horrified watching of Mitch McConnell feeding on the soul of Ashley Judd.  Of course, picking Fourth of July week right after your party has announced that they hate Kentucky’s coal industry is not in itself evidence that Ms. Grimes is thinking any more clearly at this moment in time…

PS: No, I don’t really think that Mitch McConnell is in any kind of trouble.  For that matter, I’m not entirely certain that Alison Gromes isn’t just trying to raise her profile for a gubernatorial run later.

  1. If she’s using this as a stepping stone to the Governor’s office, then she better not get embarrassed by McConnell. McConnel can tar her up so bad, she won’t have a future.

  2. Don’t worry she will probably shoot up the Cap and Trade Bill with a pink Glock and Kentuckians will go wild. The hilarity of 2014 is that Kentucky is the best chance the Dems have of gaining a seat from the GOP.
