Quote of the Day, I Actually Agree With David Brooks About Something edition.

The rest of the interview is pap, of course – truth be told, I barely skimmed it – but this is 100% correct:

…getting rid of the earmarks, the little special interest spending legislation, was very bad for Washington.

Why, yes.  Yes, it was.  This is only a problem to people who think that “Washington” = “The United States of America,” though. For the rest of us, it’s a feature instead of a bug.

Whew! I’m so relieved. I saw this headline and thought you were going to say that you agreed with Brooks in his comments he made about the Repub leadership “showing Cruz who is boss”
Although….come to think of it, maybe that isn’t such a bad idea. Nothing would fire up the Conservative base like having one of the whiny members of “leadership” take this kind of action. Lots of Rs being primaried in 2014. Won’t hurt to add a few more to the list, will it?

  2. Wow. I don’t know what’s in the D.C. water supply, but I hope Brooks’ family can get him into a good recovery program, or at least a safe facility for his senior years.

Seriously, neither D.C. nor General Motors are the United States of America, and claims that what’s good for D.C. is good for the U.S.A. stand up about as well as claims that what’s good for G.M… well, you get the idea.

Brooks needs to be put out to pasture before his problems progress to wetting on the carpet.

  3. Meh. An engine needs some grease. Too much, and too little, and it stops working. Should be an obvious lesson, now that we have seen the wreckage created by “Porkbusters”, which, after all, not only did not get rid of Earmarks, gave the Democrats control of Congress, and the loss of the public reporting on same, which the Republicans had given us. But hey, at least the Democrats dealt with the Deficit, just like they promised…..
