Happy Blog-Birthday, @aceofspadeshq!

Ace of Spades HQ is ten years old today.  Wow; time flies, huh?

Moe Lane

PS: I don’t remember my first blog post, given that it was on Tacitus, back in the day.  Shoot, I don’t even know if my first RedState.com post still exists (it would have been dot-org, at that). As for MoeLane… dang.  I don’t know that one, either.  I was importing some posts in the beginning from another site of mine.

Maybe I should have written some of this stuff down, huh?

p.s. if you ever want to find out when MoeLane.com started, claim it started on some random date, and some pedant will correct you.

    1. Let me try that.
MoeLane.com started back in 2002 ridiculing the Leftist Idolatry Festival that was the Wellstone Funeral.

I’ll wait to see if someone corrects me.

      1. I already submitted a post, but it has enough links that it’s in the moderation queue. I was working on it from earlier in the evening, but had to take a break while putting the kids to bed. 🙂

  2. *runs into post completely out of breathe, looks at watch, throws a handful of confetti into the air, shakes Moe’s hand*

Congrats on whatever it is that is going on!

*then breathlessly runs out of post*

  3. The oldest thing I see on http://www.archive.org when I search for “moelane.com” is here:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20090119110254/http://moelane.com/2009/01/17/ok-now-that-the-sites-been-around-for-a-week-or-so/

… which implies that the MoeLane.com site started in early January 2009. You were blogging before that, I know — I remember Obsidian Wings (and I’m one of the few who gets the reference) a long time back. You asked me to do some baseball posts there, and the Wayback Machine has a comment from me on April 25, 2004 bemoaning how my job with the Orioles kept me too busy to make baseball posts like I’d promised. I remember being hopeful about the Cubs going all the way that year… and they placed third in the NL Central. Instead, the Cardinals won 105 games, and the Red Sox (and Curt Schilling with “The Bloody Sock”) won the World Series that year.

The hit counter at ObWi starts on March 2, 2004, for whatever that’s worth. I found some older posts by clicking on the “About Our Mascot” link and stepping backwards, including this gem from December 2003 (http://web.archive.org/web/20060329200239/http://obsidianwings.blogs.com/obsidian_wings/2003/12/i_have_a_questi.html) — I still haven’t seen Episode III, believe it or not.

Continuing on with the backwards clicking leads to (http://web.archive.org/web/20040804182425/http://obsidianwings.blogs.com/obsidian_wings/2003/11/howdy_howdy_how.html), which appears to indicate that your first post at ObWi was on November 13, 2003. There are mentions of “the people over at Tacitus”, for whatever that’s worth.

Reading blog posts from 2003 sure brings back memories. I miss Katherine and von.
