And oh, yeah: Barack Obama thinks that it’s all our fault.
[Obama] briefly touched on the subject, saying that people in the region appear to favor the unionization plan, except for local [“local” including US Senator Bob Corker (R) – ML.] politicians who are “are more concerned about German shareholders than American workers,” the aide said.
Sounds like those American workers were kind of concerned about German shareholders themselves. Or maybe the workers just like having jobs? It’s a heck of a time to be unemployed in this country, and labor unions haven’t had that great a track record in keeping their membership employed lately.

Hey Moe, I have a question for all pro-union people who comes here: Why do we need to join a union and pay their fees when we already pay government (in taxes) to set minimum wage, a 40-hour work week, and all kinds of other labor laws?
Gator, I will give you the quick summary of their answer:

It was a really close vote. Still good union lost.
The problem is that the vote is close enough that the UAW is going to keep trying (Assuming that the NLRB doesn’t suddenly decide that the vote was “unfair” because the union lost).

Not for at least a year. Also, VW *wanted* the union to come in; they have a system of management/worker work councils that they can’t institute in American factories without a domestic union to partner. Mickey Kaus actually thinks that if the UAW tries to sue then they might not like the end result:
