NEVER SHOOT THIS KIND OF TORNADO VIDEO.

Indisputable proof that the Good Lord looks out for fools, drunkards, and American citizens:

Seriously, my advice to you in matters of this sort:

NEVER GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO A TORNADO TO TAKE A PICTURE LIKE THIS. Unless, of course, you have a valid American passport, because apparently my people can do deeply stupid sh*t like this all the time and just have it end up on Mashable. If it’s any consolation… yes, I think that it’s unfair, too.

  1. Not sure, Moe, if the statistics support your conclusion .. What I mean is, we lose tens if not hundreds of people to tornadoes yearly, despite how many $$$$$$ spent on early detection and early warning systems?

That this citizen survived is about the same odds as ending up with three aces in a poker hand… it’s odd, but not ace-high-royal-flush-in-spades odd. (For that, the tornado would have had to pass clean over him (or her) while the camera was running, presumably shooting out of the moon roof…)

  2. On the other hand, they’re in a trailer park. About the only thing they can do is get in the car and try to get out of the tornado’s path. Which they did. While filming it.

  3. This reminds me of something one of my former co-workers used to say: “Tornadoes are not attracted to trailer parks. They’re attracted to bowling trophies.”

  4. That’s a small tornado, hence these idiots survived. The larger tornadoes would’ve picked up their car if they had been that close.
