Lemme summarize this Politico article on impeachment.

BasicallyThe President and the Democrats would dearly love for the GOP to take the bait, only nobody running things in the party is taking the bait, so the Democrats are pretending that the bait is in danger of being taken so that the Democrats can campaign on the topic.

Let me be blunt. If Bill Clinton had not been impeached then Barack Obama probably would have been; but since we all remember that convoluted hot mess there’s a certain wary weariness to go through it again.  That the administration is suffering from the political equivalent of coitus interruptus over the GOP’s stubborn refusal to do them the favor of impeaching a lame duck this go-round is merely a matter of no little amusement. Honestly, the last thing we need to do is to give this guy any more validation…

  1. If I thought there was the slightest chance that a significant percentage of Democratic politicians were honorable and respected the constraints imposed by the Constitution, I’d be screaming for Obama’s impeachment.
After all, he has clearly violated the law and broken his oath of office.
    .
I’d like to live in that world. It sounds nice there.

  2. Let’s not waste our time. Every Democrat is safe as long as 34 senators are willing to vote party over country.

    1. Dems view party as country and have no qualms about doing anything and everything to advance their party/cause. Dems are playing to win, and they are winning handily. GOP should follow suit instead of playing by the rules and nominating nice guys like Romney.

      1. I actually have a problem with Republicans that put party ahead of country. My problem with Romney stems from the fact he treated fellow Republicans in a manner that he should have been treating Obama in the general election, instead he was treating Obama with kid gloves as though he were a fellow Republican.

Sarah Palin is right that Obama should be impeached, I sadly believe that won’t work as long as Harry Reid is the Senate Majority Leader.

If the Democrats lose big this november, then I think impeachment might be more likely to succeed, particularly with the Democrats looking to nominate Hillary. The last thing they want is for Obama’s low approval, and the people’s anger towards Obama, to be transferred to Hillary.

        1. There will still be over 45 Democrats in the Senate even after a best case wave election. It only take 34 Democrats to prevent conviction and give us President Biden.

          1. Correct, Freddie.
            .
Impeachment is a *political* act, that is structured using criminal-trial tropes, but it is *not* a criminal trial.
            .
Further, because impeachment is a *political* act, it carries with a *political* response, i.e. we either get to the “blood” phase of Cloward-Piven, or we get a very nasty result in the following election.

          2. How many of those Democrats will be up for re-election in 2016?

With Harry Reid not being in control of the Senate, he ends up losing a lot of power over other Democrats.

Also Democrats might end up worrying that Obama is going to hurt Hillary or any other Democrat nominee in 2016.

          3. You’re presuming that it’s the power Harry Reid currently wields that keeps the Democratic Senators in line.
            It isn’t.
He didn’t have that type of power when Clinton was impeached. Clinton was guilty as hell, and everybody knew it. Not to mention Clinton being impeached would have made Al Gore the incumbent, and a lock to win the election. They could have done right by the country *while strengthening their political party’s position*, and they universally declined.

        2. My problem with Romney stems from the fact he treated fellow Republicans in a manner that he should have been treating Obama in the general election, instead he was treating Obama with kid gloves as though he were a fellow Republican.

There were two obvious reasons for that: Barack Obama is Our First Black President, and Mitt Romney is a Mormon. The regime media would immediately trumpet that Romney is a racist who believes black people are inferior. The attackers would include Harry Reid; in a stunning display of cognitive dissonance, the media wouldn’t bother to point out that Reid is himself a Mormon.
