The me of twenty years ago would be astounded…

…at the way that we can casually have our computers multitask, say, playing a MMO while listening to an outside internet radio station playing content specifically dedicated to that MMO.  Shoot, I routinely play now with a bunch of people from Europe because the time zones work out that way when you’re a stay-at-home.  And it all just happened.  No need to regulate the process where the future became the present.

:significant cough:

  1. I’ve been playing Kingdom of Loathing for 7 years, and their internet radio, I think, has been a significant factor in its success. Run by volunteers, with a couple of podcasts each week by the creators of the game, it has created a feeling of community that is hard to do with just chat.

  2. I play World of Tanks (great game btw) and listen to Pandora Radio all the time. Been playing WoT since open beta in Mar 2011. Prior to that I played City of Heroes/Villains for 8 years (another great game)

  3. Thought about City of Heroes a while back, but it’s shut down now. Vague rumors of it returning, but who knows.
