Our Healthcare situation, in two tweets.

Yikes…

…and yikes.

Although there certainly should be no panic about the latter point. The case is definitely problematical, but there’s no indication that there’s a respiratory form of the disease, which is the scenario that really scares everybody. What we have here is a nasty disease that can be fought.

  1. Blood-and-fluid-borne, properly isolated, CDC in freak-out mode. This one is fine. Dallas isn’t suddenly going to be the center of an epidemic.

Now if for any reason this gets going in Mexico? Then we may have a problem.

  2. Just to give everyone nightmares, there was a incidence of airborne ebola I read about. It was confined to a population of captive monkeys they eventually eradicated the virus by eradicating the monkeys.

    1. So, if the virus mutates again but this time among humans, we should follow that age old advice:
” I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”

  3. This sounds funny but Obamacare was so poorly written that it might be true. Whether it is enforced is up to the courts and the bureaucrats.
The basic point is that there are 4 plan types, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum each of which pays a certain percent of medical costs. The kicker is that, as the law is written, any plan that pays more than a Bronze but less that a Silver would become substandard and illegal.
