Quote of the Day, Romney’s Jab At Jeb edition.

Nice to see that I wasn’t the only one* who noticed it:

In an apparent jab at former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who is 61, Romney emphasized the need for a fresh face for the GOP.

“I believe that one of our next generation of Republican leaders, one who may not be as well known as I am today, one who has not yet taken their message across the country, one who is just getting started, may well emerge as being better able to defeat the Democrat nominee,” he told supporters on the call. “In fact, I expect and hope that to be the case.”

There are a bunch of candidates who could fit that description: Bush and Christie aren’t two of them. Interesting…

*First thing I really noticed, actually.

  1. Maybe Romney wants to play “kingmaker” with the new generation? I’m okay with that, actually. I have thought would make an excellent ambassador or SecState. There may be some objections to this idea that I’m not aware of, but he seems to me to be the right kind of person for the position.

    1. I’m actually more ok with that than with either Jeb or Christie playing kingmaker, because as squishy moderate as he is, I never really felt the contempt or disdain of conservatives from him that you get from, oh most of the DC establishment.

  2. question is, would he accept, say, treasury? i think he’d be perfect for the slot… but i have my heart set on Bolton for state and i don’t think he’d fit well at the pentagon.
