Portsmouth, VA judges hate on fire department’s gift of an American flag.

So I figure that this stance will last all of a day

Portsmouth Sheriff Bill Watson says he is furious after a group of judges told him to take down an American flag display.

Sheriff Watson said his agency got the American flag display as a gift from members of the Portsmouth Fire Department a few weeks ago.

It’s made of old fire hoses which a sign beneath it that reads, “A Tribute to Public Safety.”

…before somebody realizes that this is going to be a PR nightmare.  What am I saying? It already is one. You usually don’t see this kind of easily avoidable mistake at the local level, though…

PS: Oh, I’m sure that they have their reasons for hating the flag, even if said reasons aren’t much more complex than “We thought that it was kitsch.” Guess how much that’s gonna matter, though. Go ahead. Guess.
