I read the first book (Bridge of Birds) in Barry Hughart’s The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox trilogy… wow, over twenty years ago? Anyway, it was a loaner, I never got a copy, but I still fondly remember Master Li, and the slight flaw in his character. So today I find out that there were two more books, and the whole thing is now heading to my Kindle, and I suggest that you follow suit.
Twenty years. Maybe twenty-five. Wow.

The Wikipedia article about Mr Hugart has some interesting info, especially the fact that the Chronicles were planned to span seven books. Full disclosure: I helped write that article. As explained on the article talk page, I emailed him and got a (very entertaining) reply. He seems like a really nice guy, and it’s a damn shame that the expletively-expletived-expletives in publishing shut him down so early.
