…I don’t get why Team Clinton is apparently on High Alert. I really don’t.

Seriously, why?

Most staffers hired for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign have no idea when she’ll announce, according to a CNN report, but have been told that they must be ready to start their campaign roles at any moment — starting Monday.

Until then, they are working out of an office meant for her personal staff, according to the report. The campaign-in-waiting’s digital team has reportedly been operating out of the space’s kitchen.

What’s the point? The article notes that Hillary Clinton has rented some space, which means that she’ll have to announce within two weeks anyway (renting space for a campaign counts as ‘campaign activity’). I can understand not announcing ahead of time, but why not tell your staff?  Is she that scared of communications leaks?

…Hmm.

  1. … would you believe pressure-testing the staff for leaks?

No? Well .. neither would I, frankly.

I would believe her private spy agency knows something’s coming but aren’t sure when it’ll pop, though… This would also explain her previously abandoned announcement schedule.

    Mew

  2. Maybe she wants absolutely nothing newsworthy to happen for as long as possible, so that “HILLARY IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT” can have as much impact in the news and on tv as possible?

  3. Rumor has it that there will be several consecutive days without a new Obama scandal.
Gentlemen, we MUST be prepared to seize that short window of opportunity!

  4. Perhaps, after decades of preparation and watching, waiting, honing her knives, both figurative and literal…she’s still not sure that she will run.

I understand the temptation to be first, even the remotest of remotest of chances has got to get her heart pounding and the grasping of her hands a trembling…

On the other hand, humiliating defeat, the crowing from those who hate your guts as salt in the wounds – that has a certain power as well. In both cases, she goes down in history visible for a long, long time.

Which is stronger? Greed or fear?
