…The Britt McHenry issue is political? Wait, what?

How can that issue possibly be political?

Yeah, that’s the one where an entitled ESPN reporter got caught screaming at an entitled car towing company; and it turns out that car towers are hated at a level only matched by politicians and telemarketers. So I just assumed that everyone involved was a horrible human being, or at least one not appearing at his or her best. What’s political about it?

  1. What’s political about it? Nothing.

What is actually political are the people talking about it and using it as an allegory for their own beliefs. These people – the towers, Miss McHenry – are just props for other people to use in their morality plays.

    1. Or the pillory, either one really. Gives everyone a chance to “recycle” their rotten fruit.

      1. Eh, not the same thing? (googles….)
        .
Same purpose, same general effect, slightly different in application.

  2. Twitter and all other social media provide a fast anonymous way of expressing the worst part of a human being towards someone who has violated…whatever.

In the future, everyone will be Emmanuel Goldstein for fifteen minutes. If they are lucky.
