Told ya so: TPA bill passes cloture vote, 60-37.

Seriously, it was obvious last week that this bill was going to get past cloture in the Senate. You don’t waste a 218-208 vote – which requires arm-twisting and deal making – in the House, just to have it die in the Senate. It’s inefficient.

Presumably they will pass TPA tomorrow, or whenever.  Also presumably, you’ll hear the President kvetch endlessly on how TAA needs to pass, now (yeah, the House will take that under consideration, ya, you betcha*) – just before he signs TPA, just like Barack Obama promised he wouldn’t do.  Welcome to the world, folks. Also: in my opinion, we got more than we lost on this one. Also also: go [expletive deleted] yourself, Curtis Ellis. Conservative activist, my [expletive deleted]…

They’re too busy trying to hold on to what little ground they have while trying to organize daycare workers and others of the same type of work. Not that they are making much progress there either – the labor union model seems to work best with two groups: licensed skilled tradesmen who do have marketable skills making them in demand and a large pool of workers (of varying skills) in a behemoth corporation that will be around for quite a number of years.

    1. Or in industries where there was a real history of employee abuse (i.e. mining)… Of course those industries seem to be in the cross hairs of modern Lefties, which makes Labor’s continued support for Dems… a tad strange. But of course we know the answer. Labor has stopped being about, well “labor” and has become a pressure group for government employees.

  2. Isn’t it amazing that every single Democrat suddenly becomes pro-free-trade just as soon as they become President? It’s almost like they all know that it’s a good thing but just can’t admit it, or something.

    1. In this case, it’s so they can attack our sovereignty.
They aren’t fans of the concept.

  3. Oh, goody. The Republican Congress is giving this President more of their Constitutional power. Sure glad I voted Republican.
