My PJ Lifestyle post on Skyrim and bad academic scholarship is up!

Link here.  Short version: Skyrim is good. Making dumb and provably wrong observations about Skyrim for your academic paper (and, probably, your doctoral thesis) is bad.  Play Skyrim; don’t make dumb observations.

That is all.

  1. I have played almost as much Skyrim as you and have also played Morrowind years ago.

In Morrowind there is a lot of Dunmer xenophobia and racism because it is their province and homeland, and resentment against the cosmopolitan, even-handed Empire is obvious.
And by the way, the Dunmer in Morrowind practice slavery, which is illegal elsewhere in the Empire. In Morrowind your character can assist the ‘Twin Lamps’ abolitionist group by freeing slaves and leading them to safety at the Argonian mission in Ebonheart.

  2. And the Thalmor? Yeah, it is a lot of fun to kill those arrogant beggers as often as you see them. Just stop a party escorting a prisoner, wait for them to go hostile, and then start slicing some real racist jerks into skeever-bait.
