Former President Jimmy Carter has the Bad Cancer.

Well, this sucks.

Former President Jimmy Carter announced Wednesday that he has cancer, and will be undergoing treatment in his home state of Georgia.

“Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body,” he said. “I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare.”

I wouldn’t wish cancer on my worst enemy. Especially the kind that’s metastasized, which is what it sounds like it’s done here. So you should probably pray for the man and his loved ones, if you haven’t already. I have.

  1. He and his family will be in my prayers. Being wrong, pigheaded, and bitter doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve sympathy for the hell he’s about to go through.

  2. Dayum.
    .
That it’s spread to other parts is .. basically a death sentence.
    .
I’m with you on this one, Moe, this is not something I’d wish on anyone.
    .
Hope he can make it to the end without too much pain.

  3. I’ve had two aunts suffer from cancer, one survived and continues to survive. The other did not. F*** this disease.

  4. Well, I’ll pray that he repents.

Cancer is not something I’d wish on anyone. I’d figure that goes without saying, but this is the internet.

  5. Yeah, I don’t like Carter either in or out of office, but cancer’s not something I’d wish on anyone. Best of luck to the former President and his family.

  6. What. A. Shame.
    .
I’ll pray for his family. I’ll pray he’ll repent from his hateful/antisemitic ways. Beyond that…

  7. You are all much better people than I ever will be. I can muster not a shred of sympathy. If there’s a hell, I’m probably going, but I’m not gonna pretend sympathy. If I were religious, I reckon I might pray for his soul, but in the context of Ma. 7:15-20 and his 1970 gubernatorial campaign, I still don’t think I’d have any sympathy for his physical condition.

    1. Not going to try to change your mind, just going to ask – who do you know that you’ve watched die of cancer?
      .
I once thought as you did .. I don’t anymore.

          1. Thanks, ‘Cat. I tell myself he did it to himself with his chain smoking. That… isn’t particularly helpful, mostly ;j

          2. I knew my father was dying when I could beat him at his favorite game .. spent my whole life trying to achieve that, and .. victory turned to bitter ashes real quick.
            .
After that, it was hard to go see him, but I did – at least once a week – until the end.
            .
Nothing to blame, Parkinsons finally got him – although he had to beat cancer first – and the P isn’t one where you can point to a cause very easily.
            .
This in mind, I will rephrase my above statement .. I would not wish cancer on his children.

          3. And my condolences to you. To be clear, I did not and do notwish for Jimmy Carter to have cancer, nor for his family to suffer. I just don’t have any sympathy for the fact that he does.

  8. My mother in law died from it a couple years ago. Since she was in our house and I helped care for her, I watched the whole thing. Not pretty.
On the other hand, Carter is 90. He has to die of something.

        1. I’ve always wanted to go calmly, in my sleep, like my uncle George, not screaming in terror like the people in his DeSoto … ?
          .
Then, there’s uncle Ralph, who .. came and then went, if you know what I mean. His girlfriend was .. not pleased.

          1. I guess as exits go, your uncle Ralph’s was the least bad, but still no more…entries after that final exit!
