You know, I could *almost* believe this about Bill Clinton and DoMA…

…except for one thing.

Which is: Bill Clinton never said so. And I say this as somebody who explicitly admitted in 2012 that I thought that keeping the unconstitutional DoMA in place was our best bet for not having a Federal Marriage Amendment passed (I decided that this wasn’t going to happen in 2013). The truth is, if you didn’t want an FMA* then DoMA was a good firewall. The other truth is, under the most generous interpretation here Bill Clinton was too much of a politician – or more accurately, too much a coward – to admit to having this position.

But now that it looks safe, well…

*I also didn’t want same-sex marriage decided by five Supreme Court Justices, either.
