Democrats desperately trying to quietly kill their inane ‘Cadillac tax.’

This is a tough call to make: “Congressional Democrats led by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are quietly working to repeal the “Cadillac tax,” a 40 percent excise on certain expensive health-insurance policies enacted as part of the so-called Affordable Care Act, which grows less affordable by the minute.”

  • On the one hand, it’s a damfool idea that should never have been passed in the first place.
  • On the other hand, this is true about the rest of Obamacare, and it seems soft-hearted to just let the Democrats get away with passing it.
  • On the gripping hand, getting rid of the Cadillac tax and its supposed* revenues will certainly accelerate the inevitable crash of Obamacare.  And, seriously: by now we’ve probably destroyed the careers of all the politicians that we can realistically expect to destroy.  Everybody that’s left is apparently largely immune to dumpster fires.

So… maybe we could let them. For a price, of course. I’ll let Speaker Ryan figure that one out; it’ll be a good test of what we can realistically expect out of the man.

*It is an article of faith among the Left that higher taxes will result in increased revenues by the same percentage as that of the tax increase; despite the fact that this does not, in fact, happen.

  1. Can we please name all icky bills the ‘Pelosi-Reid _________ Act”? Because watching them put up with the ‘Pelosi-Reid Let Adult Men Shower With Girls Act’ would almost – almost – be worth watching.*

*Drop in a poison pill that the act expires two hours after passage. They won’t know, they never read the bills any how.

  2. Key point here .. can Repubs run on “chiseling away at O’Care”?
    .
If not, then .. yeah, let the Repubs whose constituents are stupid enough to believe O’Care is a good thing support this – but title it as noted above, “Reid-Pelosi ____ act”.
    .
If they can, then .. go all in and push to repeal some other disgusting pieces of O’Care at the same time. How about axing the slush fund used to fill insurance company coffers, that ought to help accelerate the collapse …

  3. That reminds me – have we succeeded in forcing these ash**s to use O’Care themselves, or are they still claiming to be a small business with under 50 employees?

  4. I’m reminded of what de Valera said of Ireland and independence ” All of it or none of it “

  5. Speaking as someone who’s going to get screwed by that tax, not only “no”, but “Hell no!”

I’m so looking forward to the screaming from Union members when they find out their health plans are getting screwed over by ObamaCare. The cost to me is worth it. They want to get rid of the “Cadillac tax”? Great, ditch ObamaCare.
