…Look, we’re going back to war.

Not tonight, not tomorrow, probably not this year, maybe not next year either.  But it’s gonna happen. The President can attack my party all he likes because we had the bad taste to be right about the Middle East while he was being catastrophically wrong; but if I was advising Democrats I’d be telling them to sit Barack Obama the Hell down and inform him that he’s letting his pride and wounded ego make all the decisions for him, and that he’d be better off letting his brain do the thinking.

There.  That’s me putting country over party.  Because right now Barack Obama is busy making sure that no Republican will ever vote for Hillary Clinton by next November, and crossover voting can actually be kind of an important thing in the electoral calculus.  And since I’m not yet convinced we’re going to be going back to war in 2016 anyway…

    1. I don’t think there’s any evidence his brain does the thinking for him any better than his pride.

I mean, it could be the case, but I don’t think he’s demonstrated it.

  1. Our beloved President is the living embodiment of both the Dunning-Kruger Effect and of Grey’s Law:

Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.

  2. The reason why I am not a Libertarian is because I know why USS Constitution and her slip-mates were ordered. There are a lot of people in this world, and a considerable number want to *bleep* with those who have no way to protect themselves.

Yes, Libertarians. The world is a playground. Bullies, victims, and others. And sometimes teacher isn’t around. Don’t want to be a victim? Then you find a bully and beat the ever-living snot out of that bully.

That is the way the world works, has worked, will work.

      1. I’m not sure, Finrod, if we’re the same kind of libertarian .. but yeah, a strong national defense *that respects the rights of the citizenry* and attempts to spread respect for rights globally is entirely possible.

And petulant man-child would promptly inform you that he *is* using his brain and not his pride and wounded ego.

I just shake my head and pray we don’t have any attacks like Paris in the US before the adults are put back in charge.

    1. I’m not entirely confident here .. it’s all too easy for someone to paint “the current anti-immigrant hysteria” into the Dems’ favorite card .. “racist!”.

  4. My personal nightmare is that President Obama gets killed in a terrorist attack during 2016, allowing the MSM to build him up as a martyr, and leaving Joe Biden as incumbent C-in-C.

    1. I have always been of the opinion that Good ol’ Joe wouldn’t be nearly the disaster people seem to think, because it doesn’t seem like he’s on the “fundamental change” bandwagon.

      1. Disaster? No .. but he and the Obama “martyrdom” would serve to crystallize the fundamental change.

“You can’t dismantle X! It was an Obama (pbuh) thing!” ..

Joe would most likely not follow LBJ’s path, but follow one that’d make things much *much* harder to roll back in the future.
