Mitch McConnell is being stone cold on this SCotUS thing.

I mean, dang.

I cannot for the life of me think of any significant way that Mitch McConnell could have improved on this response. I mean, sure, you could probably find something to quibble over. But that’s just for finding things to quibble over.

  1. I am less than fully enthused with Senator McConnell.

But. This sort of thing is why I’ve been willing to keep voting for him.

  2. It is important to reinforce good behavior as it is to criticize bad behavior. This is *VERY* good behavior!

  3. If we’d have that McConnell all along, we wouldn’t be in this position in the nomination process…. Good boy, Mitch (praise when the old dog does something completely right).

  4. Now if McConnell will only realize that the only way he keeps the position of Majority Leader is if Cruz gets the GOP nomination and drops this whole ‘apology’ bit …

  5. Looks like this election has caused McConnell to grow a pair. Who knew it was possible so late in life.

    1. A more optimistic (or perhaps pollyana) cat may say Mitch has seen the light.
      .
This cat says Mitch has realized there are pitchforks in with the torches.

Regardless, this is good behavior and should be recognized.
      .
      Good Mitch, have a doughnut.

  6. And the hard line will likely last right until after the election. Assuming a Trumpocalypse, they’ll try to desperately confirm Garland as the R senate majority will likely be a lame duck. Of course, it that happens, bet on O to pull the nomination and put up someone more lefty. Heck, he might threaten to do it sooner to try and bait them into confirming Garland before the election.

I am still in shock how this all went so completely wrong. At nearly every important point in the last 6 years, the breaks have gone against us. Electoral victories hollowed out by betrayal and awful Supreme Court decisions. Scalia’s death feels even more tragic now.

I need to stop. I’m too depressed.

    1. If the GOP senate is a lame duck (You do mean that it will be in the minority for the 2017-2019 congress, correct?) then what would behoove it to do anything more than meet pro forma and go to Christmas parties?
      .
      .
And if Obama threatens to pull Judge Garland and send up the Hon. Leon Trotsky, why would that threat move the GOP to do anything?

      1. If Garland is still a nominee at that point, they’d likely try to confirm him to prevent someone even further to the left getting confirmed by a Dem Senate from Hillary.

        1. I say try, because in that situation, the Dems could block him themselves to ensure they get someone even more to the left.
