2. In 1989 or so, REM toured Austin, and friends got tickets, so I went. I’d told them that I generally liked REM, but that Stand was quite probably the stupidest song ever written. In the way that only college english majors can do, they told me no, that there were deep, hidden truths in it, and that it was really quite meaningful.
   .
   Fast forward to the concert, and REM introduces the song with ‘and now for the stupidest song ever written’. I felt vindicated.

   1. It’s no “What’s the frequency, Kenneth”, that’s for sure.
