Fallout 4 mods live on Xbox One.

I’m going to be nice and not write that out as ‘live,’ despite the reports of connectivity issues. Of course there’s going to be connectivity issues. They’re giving people mods on consoles for the first time; it’s a special miracle that the whole thing didn’t implode into a singularity on the spot.

Mind you, I can’t directly report on this. First off, I don’t have an Xbox One. Even if I did, I wouldn’t be switching over to the console version of Fallout 4 any time soon: there are some serious limitations to mods on the consoles, and I don’t mean the nudity ban (2 gig limit on mods, for one thing). Still, it’s pretty awesome that Bethesda is expanding access like this. Brave new world, and all that…

  1. plus, for those of us who like getting achievements, those are disabled when you have mods active in a game.

  2. I have not been too impressed with the mods so far with Fallout 4, mostly seem to be cosmetic mods, with a few exceptions:
    Darker nights is awesome.
TrueStorms is pretty good when it works and does not turn rain into sheets of white pixels.
Weapon balance overhaul does a very good job of making combat feel more meaningful as well as addressing the spongey enemy issue (especially at high levels.)
The lighting tweaks mod does a good job of making the world seem more real and not have the welling pools of light from unexplained sources go away.
However, I have not been able to get any of the new weapon or music mods to work yet.
Still, it never ceases to amaze me how many people put their own time into delivering content for free for other lovers of the game. Thank you guys.

      1. I feel you. I have long wished that I could clear away all the unsightly brush in Sanctuary, for starters.

      2. I have been thinking about using spring cleaning with the sanctuary restoration mod (repairs the houses to a facsimile of what they looked like before the great war.)

        1. A note: the repairable sanctuary mod seems to be having some issues right now. Plus, it evidently works best with a new, clean game to start per the mod author.

  3. From Bethesda: “Xbox traffic was 50x the initial #Fallout4 PC mod launch. It’s a new world & just the beginning. New features & PS4 support in the works.”

  4. The best mod I’ve found is the one that let’s you scrap everything in a settlement. One night I got the bitch from Concord behind the house with the stove. Granny was easy. I built her chair in the back bedroom.
