Rogue One featurette waves two middle fingers in George Lucas’s face.

This isn’t the new trailer. This is the behind-the-scenes clip where the director and crew pretty much admits that Lucas taught them to stay as far away from bluescreen as possible. Real explosions! Real people in costumes! Actually moving the things that are supposed to be moving!

THEY ALSO HAVE A BLIND GUY WITH A STAFF WHO KNOWS KUNG FU. THIS IS RELEVANT INFORMATION. I FEEL THAT IT REALLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN MENTIONED EARLIER.

  1. I am hoping that one of the greatest debts of gratitude we will all owe Lucas is that he has taught us the proper use of greenscreen from a negative position.
For positive, you need only look at the LOTR (original trilogy) for the positive example. With LOTR, it was sometimes very hard to figure out what was an effect and what was not. This allowed you to sit back and just enjoy the movie. Indeed, when seeing the making of featurettes, there was a lot of material I thought had been real and was CG and vice versa.
As far as this movie, it looks interesting. Could be good, could be horrific. Another lesson from Lucas.
