Rumor: Joss Whedon to do Flash/Supergirl crossover musical?

I am… conflicted on this.

Take this with a massive grain of salt, but That Hashtag Show is claiming thatJoss Whedon will direct the two-part musical crossover between The Flashand Supergirl on The CW in the spring of 2017. I’m not familiar with That Hashtag Show and don’t know if they have an accurate and proven track record breaking stories like this, so I’m hesitant to believe it until we hear further confirmation from another source. But that being said, I think everyone can agree it would be really cool if this ended up being true.

I mean, I’m fond of Joss Whedon’s stuff – yes, yes, he can produce a strong negative reaction in some people, I’m not saying anything about that negative reaction, people can dislike what they dislike – but to properly appreciate this I’d have to watch both Supergirl and the Flash. I don’t have time to watch those shows. There’s only so many hours in the day.

Well, maybe it’s just an Internet rumor – as is that supposedly Neil Patrick Harris would play villain Music Meister.  …Which would be pretty cool if it happened, right?  I mean, there’s no other real choice there if Whedon actually did this project, right?

  1. At DragonCon they still run the Buffy musical episode and call it the Buffy Horror Picture Show. Last year it proved nigh impossible to get into.

  2. I bet Nathan Fillion would crawl over broken glass to be in that, if Joss Whedon would direct. Hero, villain… he’ll be the guy with the gun. 🙂

  3. I’m very “meh” on Whedon and his love of waifs defying physics. (And my opinion of what makes a strong female protagonist seems to share zero overlap with his. I’d cite “True Grit” and “The African Queen” as positive examples, and “Buffy” as what *not* to do.)
But with Supergirl, his perspective would actually be a perfect fit.

I still don’t like musicals, though.

  4. Personal biased opinion: there is no show on the air right now that shouldn’t be dropped to make room for these two shows. Flash is my favorite TV show since Angel went off the air.
