‘Take the Money and Run.’

I like this song, because it reminds me of days when I pretty much didn’t have to worry about a single blessed thing. I worried about them anyway, but that was because I didn’t realize that I didn’t have to.  Go figure.

  1. Steve Miller certainly had the 70’s nailed down, didn’t he? Didn’t really make the transition to the 80’s though. Abracadabra was pretty much the end of the line.

  2. The way he rhymes “Texas”, “facts is”, and “taxes” though… I cringe a little bit inside every time.

Steve Miller’s late 60s output deserves some attention, too. Living in the USA is easily as good as anything he did in the Book of Dreams/Fly Like an Eagle era

    1. I smacks me in the face every time I hear it too. But then I’m like “Oh, I can’t stay mad at you” cuz the song is fun. I get the feeling Miller could tell he was trying pull a lyrical fast one but just put on a brave face and soldiered through either hoping no one would notice or that no one would care if they did.

      1. C’mon, guys, Steve was just havin’ him some fun. His slant rhymes don’t fall on the ear the way the leaden lines of, say, William McGonagall do…
